Out with the Old Energy, In with the New Year

Posted On: January 5, 2020

Why wait until spring for a good cleaning? Get your new year off to a fresh start by performing these quick check-ups around your home.

Air Filters – Replace dirty air filters in your home to ensure your HVAC unit isn’t working harder than it should be.

Sealing and Insulation – Keep heat inside your home by doing a sweep of windows and doors and sealing any leaks or drafts. Head up to the attic to make sure you aren’t losing heat through your roof with inadequate insulation.

Lighting – Is it time to throw out those old holiday lights? Upgrade to LED and save more money over time on bulbs that’ll last 50 times longer than incandescent lights.

Chimney – If you lit a cozy fire over the holidays, it may be time to inspect your chimney. Keep your fireplace damper closed if it’s not being used to trap heat inside. If you never use your fireplace, plug and seal the chimney flue.

Appliances – Commit to Energy Star appliances in the new year! Outfitting your home with a team of energy-efficient washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers and more can significantly reduce your energy bills and spell savings all year long.
