Stream offers several ways for Texas customers to satisfy a deposit requirement and get your service started.

  1. Deposit Waivers

    You may be eligible for a deposit waiver, which will start your service at no additional cost, if you meet one of the following criteria:

    • You are currently 65 years of age or older with a valid ID.
    • You have had no more than one late payment over the past 12 consecutive months of service with your previous energy provider.
    • You have been determined to be a victim of family violence and have a certified letter from the Texas Council on Family Violence.
    • You are an existing customer and do not have a past due balance in 12 consecutive months.
    • You or your spouse are active Kynect Associates and have not received a waiver in the past.
    • You are active Military personnel and can show Military orders.

    Please submit your waiver documentation using the following instructions:

    • Email documentation to depositoptions@mystreamtx.com.
      1. Email Subject: Deposit Waiver for (insert name of account holder and state).
      2. Email Body: Please process the attached documents for (insert account number, account holder’s full name, daytime phone number and service address).

    • 65 or Older – You have a valid ID from the list below that shows you are 65 years of age or older. 

      Documentation Required: Copy of Birth Certificate, Valid State Driver’s License, State ID Card, Military ID Card, Passport, Government Employee ID Card, Alien Registration Card or Consulate ID Card.

    • Letter of Credit – You have been a customer of any electric utility; can demonstrate you are not currently delinquent in payment; and have not had more than one late payment over the past twelve (12) consecutive months of service. 

      Documentation Required: Valid Letter of Credit/Good Standing must be sent from provider to provider.

    • Victim of Family/Domestic Violence – You have been determined to be a victim of family violence. 

      Documentation Required: This determination must be evidenced by submission of a certification letter developed by the Texas Council on Family Violence. The certification letter may be submitted directly to Stream.

    • Existing Customer – You have been a current Stream customer for 12 consecutive months or longer with no past due balance or disconnection notices. 

      Documentation Required: Customer Name and existing Customer Account Number.

    • Kynect Associate – If you or your spouse are active Kynect Associates applying a waiver to your initial enrollment and have not received a waiver in the past.

      Documentation Required: Associate/Spouse Name, Associate Number and Associate Address.

    • Military – You are active Military personnel. 

      Documentation Required: Military orders that are less than 6 months old. 
  1. EZ Pay Program

    This program offers a one-time, non-refundable charge of $94 to waive the deposit requirement if you do not otherwise qualify for one of the waivers above. The non-refundable charge program is administered by an independent third party.

  2. Refundable Deposit

    The one-time refundable deposit of $200 will be refunded after you’ve made 12 (or 24 for non-residential) consecutive one-time payments or upon termination of service. Eligible customers may qualify for the option to pay the deposit in two equal installments with proof of low income. You can pay the one-time charge or the refundable deposit in one of the following ways:
